SABEK HOPE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (SHEEP)
A Program under the Pathway to Prosperity Initiative of Sabek Hope Foundation
Theme: "Rebuilding Dreams, Building Bridges for Economic Prosperity."
Introduction
Poverty, unemployment, and limited access to affordable capital continue to hinder the ability of many talented and hardworking individuals to achieve sustainable livelihoods. Across Kenya, countless youth, women, and vulnerable members of society possess entrepreneurial potential but are unable to translate their ideas into successful enterprises because they lack business skills, mentorship, and access to affordable financing.
Recognizing these challenges, Sabek Hope Foundation established the Pathway to Prosperity Initiative, a holistic economic transformation strategy that equips vulnerable individuals with the knowledge, character, and opportunities needed to build resilient livelihoods. At the heart of this initiative is the Hope Inawezekana Program, a Christ-centered entrepreneurship and discipleship program that nurtures aspiring entrepreneurs through biblical principles, business development training, financial literacy, leadership, life skills, mentorship, and practical enterprise planning.
The Sabek Hope Economic Empowerment Program (SHEEP) is the financing and enterprise development component of the Pathway to Prosperity Initiative. It provides affordable start-up and growth capital to graduates who have successfully completed the Hope Inawezekana Program and demonstrated commitment, integrity, business readiness, and the potential to establish sustainable enterprises.
Unlike conventional lending models, SHEEP combines affordable financing with ongoing mentorship, coaching, accountability, and spiritual encouragement to ensure that beneficiaries are equipped not only to launch businesses but also to grow enterprises that create employment, strengthen families, and contribute to thriving communities.
Start-up capital is provided through a revolving enterprise fund at a very low interest rate, enabling entrepreneurs to begin their businesses without the burden of high borrowing costs. As enterprises mature and demonstrate sound financial management and repayment discipline, entrepreneurs become eligible to access larger operational and expansion financing at competitive, market-friendly interest rates. This revolving approach ensures that repayments replenish the fund, allowing new entrepreneurs to receive support while promoting long-term sustainability.
SHEEP is founded on the conviction that economic empowerment extends beyond access to finance. It requires transformed character, responsible stewardship, innovation, ethical leadership, and a commitment to serving others. Through Christ-centered discipleship, entrepreneurial excellence, and strategic investment, the program seeks to cultivate business leaders who become catalysts for lasting economic and social transformation.
By rebuilding dreams and building bridges for economic prosperity, SHEEP contributes to reducing poverty, creating decent employment, fostering financial inclusion, and developing entrepreneurs who positively impact their families, churches, and communities.

THE BIBLICAL SHEEP IN CHRIST-CENTERED ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The name Sabek Hope Economic Empowerment Program (SHEEP) is intentionally drawn from the biblical image of a sheep. Throughout Scripture, sheep represent God's people who live under the care, guidance, and leadership of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. This symbolism reflects the values and character that Sabek Hope Foundation seeks to cultivate in entrepreneurs through the Hope Inawezekana Program and the Pathway to Prosperity Initiative.
In John 10:11, Jesus declares, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." This reminds entrepreneurs that their identity and purpose are rooted in Christ. Business is not merely a means of generating income but a calling through which believers steward God's gifts, serve others, create opportunities, and glorify Him.
A sheep recognizes and follows the shepherd's voice. Likewise, a Christ-centered entrepreneur seeks God's wisdom before making decisions, allowing biblical principles to guide business planning, financial management, customer relationships, and leadership. Rather than being driven solely by profit, the entrepreneur pursues God's will, trusting Him to direct each step.
Sheep depend on the shepherd for provision, protection, and direction. In the same way, entrepreneurs acknowledge that every opportunity, talent, and resource ultimately comes from God. While they work diligently and plan wisely, they place their confidence in God's provision rather than relying solely on their own abilities or circumstances.
Sheep are also known for living within a flock. This reflects the importance of community, accountability, mentorship, and collaboration in entrepreneurship. No entrepreneur succeeds in isolation. Through SHEEP, beneficiaries become part of a supportive network where they receive coaching, encouragement, discipleship, and mutual accountability, while also contributing to the success of others.
Healthy sheep reproduce and help grow the flock. Similarly, successful entrepreneurs are encouraged to multiply their impact by creating employment, mentoring emerging entrepreneurs, supporting community development, and investing in future generations. Prosperity is therefore measured not only by business growth but also by transformed lives and strengthened communities.
Sheep are cared for so that they flourish. Likewise, the Sabek Hope Economic Empowerment Program provides entrepreneurs with more than affordable financing. It offers holistic support through entrepreneurship training, business mentorship, leadership development, financial literacy, spiritual formation, and ongoing enterprise coaching. This integrated approach equips beneficiaries to establish resilient businesses that withstand challenges and grow sustainably.
The program also emphasizes faithfulness. In the biblical parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14–30), servants who managed their master's resources wisely were entrusted with greater responsibility. This principle is reflected in SHEEP's revolving enterprise fund. Beneficiaries begin with affordable start-up capital, demonstrate integrity, sound stewardship, and responsible repayment, and may later qualify for larger growth financing. Faithfulness in small responsibilities opens the door to greater opportunities.
Ultimately, the analogy of the sheep reminds every entrepreneur that true prosperity begins with a right relationship with the Good Shepherd. Businesses are established not simply to accumulate wealth, but to honour God, create dignified work, alleviate poverty, strengthen families, serve communities, and become instruments through which God's kingdom values are demonstrated in everyday economic life.
For this reason, every graduate of the Hope Inawezekana Program is encouraged to become a Christ-centered entrepreneur who is:
Led by Christ in every decision.
Grounded in biblical integrity in all business practices.
Faithful in stewardship of resources and opportunities.
Compassionate in serving people before pursuing profit.
Committed to excellence in products, services, and leadership.
Accountable within community, embracing mentorship and collaboration.
Dedicated to multiplying impact by creating employment, mentoring others, and contributing to sustainable community transformation.
Sabek Hope Economic Empowerment Program (SHEEP) seeks to develop entrepreneurs who faithfully follow the Good Shepherd, steward His resources with integrity, and become agents of hope, dignity, and lasting economic prosperity.
